My name is Debra Sinclair I’m an entrepreneur social media strategist, communications consultant, mentor, trainer and content writer. I’m the founder and Director of Liquid Mango Consulting, a Sydney-based social media consultancy dedicated to helping SMEs build relationships on social media so they can increase customer loyalty and attract new clients.

I’m incredibly passionate about communication and engagement, and I have been for over 20 years. During my career I’ve worked in the media, event management, communications and in public relations in both the public and private sectors developing communications strategies, sharing extraordinary stories and building brands. I love what I do. I have a Masters Degree in Communication Management, and I’ve featured in The Huffington Post Australia, Women Love Tech, INTHEBLACK, Women In Focus and 50 Unsung Business Heroes.

In 2011 I started Liquid Mango Consulting when I noticed people and brands using social media with little to no regard for their audience. They were using it to self-promote and broadcast sales messages rather than to meaningfully connect, communicate and engage with other people.

Social media is about creating highly personalised and engaging experiences at the moments that have the most significant impact. It’s a powerful customer service and communication tool, and I genuinely believe relationships are the difference between being invisible and making your mark.

You can certainly use social media to market, promote and sell your products and services however you can’t do it all the time because it will turn people off and you run the risk of losing people’s attention forever. Instead, use social media to connect, communicate and engage with your customers and your broader online community. Use it to start meaningful conversations, to seek feedback and to provide value to others.
